Beer and Japanese rice snacks? Trust me—they’re a great match! 🍺
Summer always makes me crave an ice-cold beer.
Just like potato chips, plenty of Japanese rice crackers pair perfectly with beer. Here are three I’d happily recommend!
Kaki no Tane
Let’s start with one of the most well-known: Kaki no Tane (柿の種).
When Japanese people think of a senbei to enjoy with beer, Kaki no Tane is probably one of the first things that comes to mind 🍺
The spicy, crunchy rice crackers and the sweetness of the peanuts are a perfect match for beer!

Wagaya no Teppan
Wagaya no Teppan (わが家のテッパン) isn’t as well-known as Kaki no Tane, but personally, I buy it more often 😆
A mix of different kinds of rice crackers and bean snacks all in one bag, so you won’t get bored.
One bag is never enough for just one beer, though. Before you know it, you’ve opened a second one. It’s a beer thief! 😆
By the way, “Wagaya no Teppan” literally means “our family’s go-to favorite.”
“Teppan” in the product name means something that’s a sure thing or a classic choice. Basically, you can’t go wrong with it 👍

Cheese Okaki
This Cheese Okaki (チーズおかき) is also one of my personal favorite rice crackers to enjoy with beer.
This okaki, with rich cheese cream sandwiched between soy sauce-flavored crackers, is an amazing match for a slightly bitter beer 😆
It’s been a beloved long-selling snack for over 40 years. I loved eating it as a snack when I was a kid, and now that I’m an adult, I love it as a beer snack 💕
