The Sanrio Hina Arare introduced in the previous article was a “sweet-style” snack in both appearance and flavor.
However, the one I’m featuring this time—Echigo no Hina Arare (越後のひなあられ)—is something I want even adults who aren’t planning to celebrate Hinamatsuri to try.
With its irresistible mayonnaise aroma, It’s the perfect savory umami rice snack that pairs exceptionally well with alcohol! 🍺
Childish Design, Tempting Aroma for Adults…
The package features a pink base reminiscent of peach blossoms, with cute Obina (Prince) and Mebina (Princess) standing side by side.

Inside are four colors of Hina Arare. (The official description says there are five colors, but to the naked eye, it looks like four. It seems they count the tiny black specks of “nori” on the brown soy sauce pieces as the fifth color!)

They aren’t just sweet; they include savory flavors as well, featuring the distinctive seasoning style of the Kansai region.
It’s a pity I can’t share the scent with you, but the moment you open the bag, the wonderful aroma of mayonnaise wafts out! ☺️
Light and Addictive: The Perfect Beer Companion!
The texture is fine-grained and incredibly airy! It starts with a light crunch, then feels as if it’s melting away on your tongue.

The key is the flavor! Even before your first bite, the sweet and tangy aroma of mayonnaise tempts you.
But there’s more—each color has its own flavor: shrimp, soy sauce, green laver (Aonori), and sugar. It’s a rich palette of tastes!

The mayonnaise flavor alone makes me want to shout, “Beer, please! 🍺” But combining it—mayo and shrimp, mayo and green laver…—now that really kicks the beer cravings into high gear.
If you scoop them up with a spoon and eat them all at once like this, the flavor mix is incredible!

On top of that, the airy, crispy, melt-in-the-mouth texture makes it impossible to stop!
Don’t let the cute Hinamatsuri packaging intimidate you—if you’re an alcohol lover, this is a top-tier savory snack you need to try🍺

If you’re buying this for a child’s celebration, be careful not to eat it all yourself before they get a chance! 😆
Honestly, I wish they’d change the packaging and sell this as a year-round snack. Since they’re round, colorful, and look great, they wouldn’t even look out of place served at a bar ✨
