I originally visited Shinjuku Takashimaya (新宿高島屋) to look for some “Valentine’s Senbei,” but I ended up at the massive Valentine fair on the upper floor called “Amour du Chocolat 2026 (アムール・デュ・ショコラ 2026).” 🍫🩷
This is a bit of a departure from my usual senbei reviews, but I wanted to share my experience there ☺️

Entrance & Venue Guide
The venue is on the 11th floor. This is the entrance.

Since I went on a Saturday afternoon, the energy was absolutely incredible! From what I could see, it was about 70% women and 30% men.
If there are any men out there thinking, “It’ll probably be mostly women, so I’m hesitant to go,” please don’t worry and just go for it! 👍✨
More importantly, everyone there is so obsessed with the chocolates 😍 that they aren’t looking at anyone else anyway! 😆
Here is the venue map (Click to enlarge).

I also got a booklet about this event.

I’ll introduce a few of the roughly 100 brands featured. Now, let’s take a look at the “masterpieces” from each brand! 😍
Visual & Concept Masterpieces
Eye-catching and unique—chocolates with a stunning world of their own.
Foucher Olympus (フーシェ オリンポス)
*Booklet p.120
Chocolates inspired by planets. The display was all blue and stood out!

BEL AMER (ベルアメール)
*Booklet p.97
Colorful and eye-catching chocolates, such as “Stick Chocolat” that comes on a stick like a popsicle.

These chocolates feature beautiful Japanese designs inspired by flowers and balls.

Pierre Ledent (ピエール・ルドン)
*Booklet p.63
A vibrant palette of colors, almost too beautiful to eat.

The strawberry chocolate flavor is especially recommended 🍓

Le Cordon Bleu (ル・コルドン・ブルー)
*Booklet p.53
The Eiffel Tower-shaped tin is filled with hearts 💕🇫🇷
The plump, round, delicious-looking macarons next to it are apparently only available at Takashimaya!

François DOUCET (フランソワ・デュッセ)
*Booklet p.54
These colorful chocolates are filled with fruit puree and come in cute packaging featuring grapes and apples 🍎

The photos of Le Cordon Bleu and François DOUCET in the booklet are so beautiful and appetizing! ☺️💕

Sébastien Bouillet (セバスチャン・ブイエ)
*Booklet p.46
These lipsticks and blush-shaped are all chocolate! They’re edible cosmetics!

Adorable & Charming
From here on, I’ll show you some cute chocolates 🐈
Pokémon (ポケモン)
The world-famous Pokémon has been turned into chocolate!

Not only are they shaped like the characters, but they also feature beautifully printed illustrations of Pikachu, Eevee, Sprigatito, and Gengar. There’s even a Poké Ball chocolate!

They are almost too cute to eat! 😆

Animal Chocolat (アニマルショコラ)
*Booklet p.118
It’s so cute! The moment you open the box, you’ll smile! If you look closely, you’ll see a garden eel in the middle! 😆

Just like the Pokemon chocolates, these are almost too cute to eat 😆
Are you the type to pop the whole thing in your mouth, or do you take a little bite at a time? I have no idea where to start! 😂

Angege (アンジュジュ)
*Booklet p.118
The packaging and the paw-shaped chocolates are irresistible for cat lovers! 🐈🩷

Twotea Room (トゥーティールーム)
Twotea Room has a very fairytale-like display with a pale pink base.

A delightful variety of miniature chocolates are lined up, featuring shapes like shortcakes, madeleines, teapots, and teacups!
Look! The display, modeled after an afternoon tea cake stand, is so cute! 🎀

These three circular boxes in the foreground come as a set! They perfectly recreate a three-tier afternoon tea stand.

The book-shaped packaging in the background is also incredibly detailed. The product name is “Omoide no Tea Book” (おもいでのティーブック / Memory Tea Book). Even the name itself captures the heart ☺️
The tin design is like something out of a gentle picture book.

This one is titled “Futari dake no Gohobi” (二人だけのごほうび / A Special Treat for Just the Two of Us). It’s the kind of naming that makes you want to enjoy it with a friend as a special treat 🎀
World-famous paintings
There were also chocolates with painting motifs like those in art museums!
Garnier (ガルニエ)
*Booklet p.117
The packaging features masterpieces by artists such as Van Gogh and Monet, expressing the world of famous paintings through chocolate.

Monet’s Water Lilies. The water lilies and the water surface are beautifully expressed in chocolate.

KANMIGARO (甘味画廊)
*Booklet p.117
This is based on a famous Japanese painting. The chocolates, which are inspired by balls and battledores, also express the delicate beauty of Japan 🇯🇵✨

The golden packaging of a famous Japanese painting is truly elegant and luxurious! ✨

Alcohol-Infused Delights
Finally, for those who love alcohol, here are some chocolates made with alcohol.
Yanagimura (ヤナギムラ)
*Booklet p.112
Chocolate bonbons made with fine Japanese sake (shochu) ☺️

The photo I took above is a little hard to see, so I’ll post a photo from the booklet 😆

MUDDLER (マドラー)
*Booklet p.113
This chocolate is packed with the charm of highballs. The display has an adult atmosphere, like a bar 🍸

—Did you enjoy the gallery of beautiful and delicious-looking chocolates? 💕
This is just a small glimpse of what I found. After all, the official event booklet is a staggering 130 pages long 😳

The photos in this booklet are so beautiful that they could easily be commercialized as a chocolate photo book ✨😳
The fact that a department store is distributing such a high-quality booklet for free shows how much effort they put into this event! 🍫🤩
This is a special event that is only available during this time of year, so if you’re a chocolate lover, be sure to check it out! 🏃♂️ Be sure to get your hands on the booklet! ✨
—By the way, who do you think all those people at the event were buying chocolates for? For their partners? Or maybe for… someone else? 🤔
I’ve shared a post about Japan’s unique Valentine’s Day culture! Do you know what “Giri Choco” (Obligation Chocolate) is? Take a look! 🍫✨
